Guitar Lessons · Bishop’s Waltham, Hampshire
Structured guitar tuition coming to the Meon Valley this autumn
Guitar Academy is expanding into Bishop’s Waltham — bringing the same high-quality group guitar programme that families in Petersfield already love. Whether your child is at Swanmore College or one of the local primary schools, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn guitar in a social, supportive setting at a price that’s genuinely accessible to families.
We’re welcoming registrations from across Bishop’s Waltham and the surrounding villages — including Swanmore, Upham, Corhampton, and Durley. The Meon Valley is a tight-knit community and we’re committed to making Guitar Academy feel like a natural part of local life here.
Bishop’s Waltham is steeped in history — the ruins of Bishop’s Palace at its heart are a reminder of what makes this corner of Hampshire so special. We want to add to that community fabric by giving local young people access to a skill they can carry with them for life. Register below to be first in line when Autumn 2026 bookings open.

Why Bishop’s Waltham?
Bishop’s Waltham sits at the heart of the Meon Valley — an area of outstanding Hampshire countryside with an affluent, family-oriented population. Families here are typically engaged, active, and value quality enrichment activities for their children. The town itself serves as a hub for surrounding villages including Swanmore, Upham, Corhampton, and Durley — all within easy reach and all home to families who tell us they’re looking for exactly what Guitar Academy offers: structured, affordable, and enjoyable group music tuition with real credentials behind it.

How It Works
🎸
Learning through songs
Students learn real songs from day one. It keeps motivation high and progress visible — parents notice it too.
🤝
A social skill for life
Group lessons build confidence and camaraderie. Students encourage each other and often practise together between sessions.
🎵
Grades are optional
We follow the Rockschool framework but exams are never compulsory. Play for fun or work towards recognised grades — your choice.
🌍
Join a local guitar community
You’re joining a growing community of young musicians across the Meon Valley who play, progress and perform together.
✅
Expert, DBS-checked tutors
Every Guitar Academy tutor is experienced, DBS-checked, and trained to teach groups of mixed ability. Your child is in safe, expert hands.
📍
Proven across Hampshire
Our approach is already delivering results in Petersfield. We’re now bringing the same programme to the Meon Valley.
Who is it for?
Our group guitar lessons are open to complete beginners and those with a little experience. This programme suits:
- Students aged 7+ at Swanmore College and local primary schools in the Bishop’s Waltham area
- Teenagers from Bishop’s Waltham, Swanmore, Upham, Corhampton, and Durley
- Adults who’ve always wanted to learn but never found the right setting
- Families looking for a shared musical activity — siblings can often join the same group
- Anyone who finds one-to-one lessons too pressured or too expensive
No guitar? No problem. We can advise on affordable starter instruments and many students borrow one initially before deciding to invest.

The Rockschool Framework
All Guitar Academy lessons are built on the Rockschool syllabus — the UK’s most popular contemporary music grading system, recognised by universities and conservatoires. Students learn real songs across rock, pop, blues, and acoustic.
Our tutors have achieved a 100% pass rate across all Rockschool examinations. Grades run from Debut through to Grade 8. Whether your child wants to play for fun or work towards a qualification, Rockschool supports both paths.
Lessons are carefully paced so no one is left behind — mixed-ability groups work together, with tutors ensuring every student makes progress at every session.

When do lessons start?
We’re planning to launch in Bishop’s Waltham for Autumn 2026. Register now to receive priority booking information ahead of the general launch.
Does my child need any experience to join?
No experience needed. Our groups welcome complete beginners and are structured so that students with a little prior experience also thrive.
Do students have to take Rockschool exams?
Absolutely not. Rockschool graded exams are available and we’re proud of our 100% pass rate, but they’re entirely optional. Many students play purely for fun and never take an exam.
How much do lessons cost?
A term of 10 group guitar lessons costs £180 — just £18 per lesson, compared to private tuition typically costing £40–£60/hour.
Do students need their own guitar?
Students should aim to have access to a guitar for home practice, but you don’t need one on day one. We can recommend affordable starter instruments.
Is there a cost to register my interest?
No — registering is completely free. It simply puts you on our priority list so you hear about Bishop’s Waltham bookings before anyone else.
